The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its commitment to the re-election bid of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, dismissing reports of a purported withdrawal of support as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, the APC described the claim—allegedly made by a group identified as the “Arewa APC Forum, Kano State Chapter”—as a calculated attempt to misrepresent the position of the party and create disunity among its members.
According to the statement, no recognized organ of the party in Kano has taken any decision to withdraw support for the President’s second-term ambition. The party stressed that it remains firmly aligned with the leadership and policies of the Tinubu administration.
“The APC in Kano is aware of attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion within the party. This so-called forum is not known to our structure and does not reflect the views of our members,” the statement noted.
The party also reaffirmed its confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, citing ongoing efforts toward economic reforms, good governance, and national development as reasons for its continued support.
Under the leadership of Umar Haruna Doguwa, the Kano APC urged members and the general public to disregard the statement entirely, describing it as the handiwork of mischief-makers seeking to cause unnecessary tension.
The statement concluded by emphasizing the unity of the party in Kano and its unwavering backing of President Tinubu’s vision for a better Nigeria, adding that the individual behind the alleged withdrawal statement is “faceless” and not a recognized stakeholder within the party at any level.
