The Kano State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has pledged to foster cordial working relationships with the Forum of Ex-Caretaker Councillors and other support groups to ensure the re-election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in 2027.
Comrade Waiya gave the assurance on Tuesday while receiving two separate delegations in his office: the Forum of Ex-Caretaker Councillors who served between 2017-2018, and members of the North West APC Women Media Group.
Addressing the Ex-Caretaker Councillors, the Commissioner said the numerous achievements recorded by the present administration under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf necessitate collective efforts to sustain and expand the gains.
According to him, the administration has initiated and executed over 1,500 development projects in health, education, agriculture, youth and women empowerment, and infrastructure across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
“Some of these projects have been completed while others are at various stages of completion. All are designed to improve the well-being of the people of Kano State,” he stated.
On the recent payment of entitlements to Ex-Councillors by the Kano State Government, Comrade Waiya described the gesture as timely and compassionate, considering the hardship faced by some of the beneficiaries.
He decried attempts by opposition elements to politicize the payment, stressing that the Governor acted in good faith to improve the welfare of those who served the state.

“It is time for us to join hands and deny unpatriotic elements the opportunity to mismanage the resources of our dear state. Your decision to support Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a second term shows your genuine concern for the development of Kano,” Waiya said.
He assured the Forum of the Ministry’s commitment to work closely with them to mobilize support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Ahmed Hamza Danlabaran, said the visit was to declare their total support for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of 2027.
He commended the Governor for settling outstanding entitlements of Ex-Councillors, describing it as an act of humility and good leadership. He further appealed for similar consideration for Ex-Caretaker Councillors to improve their welfare.
In a related development, the Commissioner also received members of the North West APC Women Media Group.
The Chairperson, Hajiya Karimatu Musa Kofar Nasarawa, said the group was at the Ministry to brief the Commissioner on their activities and to seek support for their campaign for the re-election of both Abba and Tinubu in 2027.
She commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his outstanding achievements across key sectors and praised the Commissioner for his role in promoting government policies.
Responding, Comrade Waiya expressed delight at the visit, noting that their support is crucial at this time.
He pledged the Ministry’s readiness to provide necessary assistance to the group in publicizing the achievements of both the State and Federal Governments.
