The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting accurate and timely public communication following a strategic meeting with radio and television commentators, popularly known as “Sojojin Baka.”
The meeting, held on Monday, June 29, 2026, focused on enhancing collaboration between the government and media stakeholders, improving information dissemination, and ensuring that residents receive credible and verified information.
Participants included Hon. Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, Director of Finance at the Hadeja Jama’are River Basin Development Authority; Gidado Ahmad Satatima; the Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Media, Hon. Alhajiji Na Goda; Hon. Murtala Zawai; and other stakeholders in the communication sector.
Addressing the gathering, Waiya described broadcast commentators as key partners in shaping public opinion and raising public awareness. He stressed the importance of professionalism, fairness, and accuracy in reporting government activities and public affairs.
He urged the commentators to continue using their platforms responsibly to promote peace, social cohesion, and the overall development of Kano State.
The meeting ended with participants exchanging ideas on ways to strengthen government-media relations and improve public access to reliable information.
