The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has paid tribute to the heroes and heroines of Nigeria’s democratic struggle, describing June 12 as a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and the collective determination of Nigerians to achieve freedom, justice, and accountable governance.
In a Democracy Day message signed by Comrade Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, Executive Director of CISLAC, the organisation said June 12 is more than a date on the calendar; it is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by patriots who stood against oppression and fought for democratic values.
CISLAC noted that Nigeria’s democratic journey was shaped by the resilience and commitment of countless individuals, both known and unknown, who dedicated their lives to the pursuit of justice, human rights, and good governance.
