
The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA), through its Rapid Response Team (RRT), has successfully facilitated an emergency surgical intervention for Yusuf Isah, a road traffic accident victim who sustained a severe leg fracture and required urgent specialist care.
The intervention was carried out under the directive of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, as part of the Agency’s commitment to ensuring that vulnerable residents receive timely and life-saving medical attention irrespective of their financial circumstances.
Following his referral to Sir Muhammad Sunusi Specialist Hospital, Kano, Yusuf Isah underwent comprehensive clinical assessment, orthopedic evaluation, and necessary medical investigations by specialist doctors. Medical findings confirmed the severity of the injury and the urgent need for surgical intervention to prevent further complications and preserve the functionality of the affected limb.

Acting swiftly, the KSCHMA Rapid Response Team coordinated with the hospital management and attending specialists, leading to the patient’s immediate transfer to the theatre for emergency surgery.
The Executive Secretary, Dr Rahila Aliyu Muktar, noted that the Agency remains committed to ensuring prompt medical response for emergency cases through effective referral coordination and sustained patient follow-up.
She stated that the intervention is a practical demonstration of the healthcare vision of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, whose Kano First Agenda prioritises the health and well-being of citizens through accessible, equitable, and responsive healthcare services.
According to her, the Rapid Response Team was established to bridge critical gaps in emergency healthcare delivery by identifying vulnerable patients, facilitating urgent referrals, and ensuring access to specialist medical care when needed most.
KSCHMA commended the management and medical personnel of Sir Muhammad Sunusi Specialist Hospital for their professionalism, prompt response, and commitment to quality healthcare delivery.
The Agency will continue to closely monitor Yusuf Isah’s condition throughout the surgical and recovery process to ensure the best possible treatment outcome.
