The Nigerian Muslims Forum has thrown its weight behind Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Bello Matawalle, endorsing his call for divine intervention through national prayers to complement security operations against banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping.
The forum’s Secretary-General, Professor AbdulKadir Umar Na’amo, stated the position Sunday in Gusau, Zamfara state, arguing that Nigeria’s complex security crisis requires both physical and spiritual approaches to achieve lasting peace.
Professor Na’amo said while military operations and intelligence efforts remain critical, Nigerians must also seek the intervention of Almighty God to overcome persistent violent crimes.
“The complexity of Nigeria’s security challenges requires a combination of both physical and spiritual approaches,” he said.

He said prayer remains a powerful tool capable of bringing lasting peace and stability to the nation.
He described Matawalle’s recent remarks urging citizens to pray for the country’s security as timely, courageous and encouraging.
He noted that faith is an important pillar for millions of Nigerians facing insecurity daily.
The cleric praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to tackling insecurity.
Prof. Na’amo said the significant progress has been recorded in several parts of the North-west and other regions since the administration took office.
