
Stakeholders in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State have praised the State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, for his sustained public enlightenment campaign aimed at boosting participation in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The commendation was made during a voter sensitization and awareness programme organized by the Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs in collaboration with the Office of the Information Officer, Tarauni Local Government, to mark the commencement of the third phase of the CVR exercise.
The event, held at the Islamic Centre, sought to educate residents on the importance of voter registration and encourage eligible citizens to participate actively in the exercise.
Representing the commissioner at the programme, Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment, described voter registration as a vital civic responsibility and a key requirement for meaningful participation in the democratic process. He urged all eligible residents, especially youths and women who have attained the age of 18, to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Kiru reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to public enlightenment and civic engagement, while calling on residents to cooperate with electoral officials and take advantage of the registration exercise.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Tarauni Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad Sekure, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Khalid Ayuba, alongside the Leader of the Legislative Council, Ali Idris Ali, lauded Waiya’s efforts in educating Kano residents on the importance of voter registration and the benefits of possessing a PVC.
The stakeholders emphasized that increased voter registration would strengthen democratic participation and ensure that more citizens have a voice in shaping the future of their communities and the state at large.
