The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting cultural activities as a means of strengthening unity and creating employment opportunities for youths across the state and the country.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made this known during the launch of a car race event held as part of activities marking the renowned Argungu Fishing Festival in Kebbi State.
Represented by the Kano State Commissioner for Information and internal Affairs Comrade, Ibrahim Abdullahi Wayya, the governor emphasized that cultural festivals remain vital platforms for economic growth, social integration, and youth empowerment.
He noted that the government will continue to support initiatives that preserve tradition while opening new opportunities for young people.
The commissioner further disclosed that the Kano State Government facilitated the participation of the team that organized the car race competition, which forms one of the major attractions of this year’s festival.
According to him, such engagements not only promote cultural heritage but also encourage creativity and enterprise among the youth.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and former Director of Hats and Vehicle Standards in Kebbi State, Ibrahim Sulaiman, described the Argungu Fishing Festival as a global cultural event. He said the festival attracts participants and visitors from different parts of the world, cutting across various backgrounds and professions.
Sulaiman added that the festival continues to serve as a platform for cultural exchange, tourism promotion, and economic development for the host community and beyond.
He commended the collaboration between Kano and Kebbi states in ensuring the success of the event.
The event was attended by the Kano State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Aisha Lawal Sagi, alongside other prominent dignitaries from across the country.
