The Nigerian Army has inducted more than 8,000 newly trained soldiers following the successful completion of their military training at the newly established Depot Nigerian Army in Osogbo, Osun State.
The Passing Out Parade, held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, marks a significant milestone in the Army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its manpower and enhance operational readiness in response to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, said the recruitment forms part of the Federal Government’s directive under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enlist an additional 28,000 soldiers to reinforce the Army’s force structure and improve its capacity to combat terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats nationwide.
Shaibu noted that the recruits underwent rigorous military training focused on physical fitness, tactical proficiency, leadership development, and resilience, equipping them for the demands of modern military operations.
He urged the newly enlisted personnel to uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, courage, and loyalty as they begin their military careers, stressing that they are joining the Army at a critical period when troops are actively engaged in operations across multiple theatres to safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty and protect lives and property.
The graduation ceremony underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to expanding its operational capacity and building a highly professional, combat-ready force capable of addressing the country’s complex and changing security environment.
