The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has conducted a comprehensive security appraisal at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, while intensifying security patrols along the Kano–Maiduguri Road under the Inspector-General of Police’s Handshake Patrol Strategy.
The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security around critical national institutions and improve inter-state policing operations across the region.
During his visit to the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, CP Bakori held a strategic meeting with the Academy’s Commandant, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, where they reviewed existing security measures, intelligence-sharing mechanisms, emergency response strategies, and collaborative operational plans.
The Commissioner also inspected the Academy’s perimeter security, access control systems, and rapid response arrangements. He commended the Commandant for maintaining high standards of discipline, professionalism, and internal security, describing the Academy as a vital national institution responsible for producing future leaders of the Nigeria Police Force.

Following the assessment, CP Bakori led an operational patrol along the Kano–Maiduguri Road and the Kano–Jigawa border corridor to reinforce the Inspector-General of Police’s Handshake Patrol initiative.
According to the Police Command, the Handshake Patrol is an intelligence-driven, inter-command security strategy designed to prevent criminals from exploiting state boundaries, strengthen cooperation between neighbouring police commands, and improve coordinated responses to security threats.
The Commissioner directed officers to sustain enhanced surveillance and rapid response operations along the corridor, assuring residents and road users that the patrols would continue and be regularly reviewed based on security assessments.
The Kano State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, which emphasizes proactive, intelligence-led, collaborative, and technology-driven policing.
The Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements, or objects to the nearest police formation or through its 24-hour emergency lines.
Brown Pigeon News Publications reports that the renewed security operations are expected to further strengthen public safety, improve confidence in law enforcement, and enhance the security of major transportation routes across Kano State.
