President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of Service of the Federation (Head of Service).
Enitan’s appointment takes effect from August 27, 2026, following the retirement of the incumbent Head of Service, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the public service upon attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Enitan is expected to bring his wealth of experience in the federal civil service to the new position and continue ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening efficiency, professionalism and accountability within the public service.
President Tinubu commended the outgoing Head of Service, Mrs Walson-Jack, for her service and contributions to the development of the federal civil service.
The President also charged the incoming Head of Service to sustain ongoing reforms and ensure a more efficient, professional and responsive civil service that meets the needs and aspirations of Nigerians.
