
Gunmen have attacked an orphanage and school in the Zariagi area of Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, abducting 23 students along with the wife of the facility’s owner.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, confirmed that the incident occurred on Sunday night.
According to reports, the assailants stormed the premises of the orphanage, forcefully taking the students to an undisclosed location. The development has sparked fear and concern among residents of the area.
Security agencies have since launched an investigation and are taking steps to rescue the victims, while the state government has vowed to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
Authorities have urged members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives to ensure the safe return of those abducted.
