Groups representing Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kano State have commended the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, for his continued support and advocacy for disability inclusion in the state.
The groups also called on the Kano State Government to expedite the establishment and operational take-off of the proposed Disability Commission, describing it as a crucial step toward protecting the rights and improving the welfare of persons with disabilities.
According to the PWD groups, the commission would provide a structured platform for implementing disability-related policies, addressing challenges faced by members of the community, and ensuring greater access to education, healthcare, employment, and other social services.
They praised Comrade Waiya for consistently engaging with disability groups and reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive governance, expressing confidence that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration would fulfill its promise of establishing the commission.
The stakeholders urged the state government to accelerate the necessary administrative processes to ensure the commission becomes fully operational, stressing that its establishment would mark a significant milestone in advancing the rights, dignity, and inclusion of persons with disabilities in Kano State.
