OUTCOME OF THE 39TH EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 28TH APRIL, 2026 AT THE COUNCIL CHAMBER, GOVERNMENT HOUSE, KANO

Following extensive deliberations on matters of governance, development, and public welfare, the Executive Council approved a total sum of Seventy Nine Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety Million, Seven Hundred and Twenty Eight Thousand, Three Hundred and Thirty Eight Naira, Eighty Four Kobo (₦79,490,932,338.84) for the execution of various projects across key sectors.

 

Below are the approvals sector by sector.

 

EDUCATION SECTOR

 

In its continued commitment to improving access to quality education and strengthening learning infrastructure across the State, the Executive Council approved the following projects and interventions:

 

Settlement of debt for foodstuff suppliers to boarding schools for the 4th, 5th and 6th weeks of the 2nd term of 2025/2026 academic session – ₦834,496,370.04

 

Payment of registration fees for external examinations (NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS) for Kano State indigenes for the year 2026 – ₦4,450,552,700.00

 

Construction, renovation of existing structures, provision of office furniture, laboratory apparatus and reagents, drainage and laterite filling, as well as activation of water source at GGAS Tudun Murtala, Nassarawa LGA – ₦324,635,348.65

 

Construction of additional structures, renovation of existing ones and provision of furniture at Government Secondary School (GSS) Makoda, Makoda LGA – ₦321,183,408.40

 

General rehabilitation of existing structures at GSS Unguwa Uku, Tarauni LGA – ₦225,492,004.37

 

Upward review of contract for the relocation of School of Islamic Studies, Karaye – ₦139,478,698.33

 

Payment of registration fees for the conduct of internal examinations for the year 2026 – ₦359,298,000.00

 

Construction of storey block of 4 classrooms, 5-seater VIP toilets and provision of furniture at GGASS Wasai, Minjibir LGA – ₦104,716,924.89

 

Upgrade of wall fence, renovation of classrooms and provision of furniture at GGSS Hausawa – ₦115,512,029.87

 

Construction of wall fence, administrative block and renovation of existing structures at Karofi Islamiyya Primary School, Makoda LGA – ₦103,841,681.43

 

Completion of abandoned storey

block of 6 classrooms at GGSS Toranke, Ajingi LGA – ₦212,549,738.45

 

Settlement of outstanding liabilities for government-sponsored candidates for SSCE June/July (2020–2023) – ₦457,157,999.00

 

Procurement of school furniture for Primary and Junior Secondary Schools across 30 LGAs – ₦2,000,000,000.00

 

HEALTH SECTOR

 

Key approvals in the health sector include:

 

Renovation of Wudil General Hospital – ₦406,209,086.14

 

Free Maternal and Child Health commodities – ₦180,000,000.00

 

Polio outbreak response across 44 LGAs – ₦310,963,302.00

 

Construction and

upgrading of Primary Health Care Centres across Bunkure, Tsanyawa, Kano Municipal, and Dawakin Tofa LGAs

Procurement of hospital equipment for Sheikh Jidda and Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Hospitals – ₦423,959,620.70

 

Routine immunization (Q2 2026) – ₦207,549,198.00

 

Free maternal, neonatal, and child health services across 484 PHCs – ₦361,044,000.00

 

Construction of classrooms and lecture theatre at School of Health Technology Kano – ₦286,435,709.31

 

WORKS AND INFRASTRUCTURE

 

The Council approved major infrastructure projects, including:

 

Reconstruction of road networks in Gwale LGA – ₦574,352,028.95

 

Road from Panshekara Underpass to Madobi Bridge – ₦5,208,841,258.73

 

Maintenance of Dorayi and Kwanar Primary roads

Construction works at Rijiyar Gwangwan Mosque – ₦565,083,989.28

 

Renovation of Accountant General’s Office – ₦463,840,999.10

 

NYSC Camp Kusalla facilities – ₦187,665,146.44

 

AGRICULTURE SECTOR

 

Approvals in agriculture include:

 

Procurement of 41,386 bags of fertilizer – ₦3,499,931,248.00

 

Renovation of Ministry of Agriculture Headquarters – ₦327,224,500.84

 

Surface dressing at

Dansoshiya irrigation scheme – ₦876,022,875.00

ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE

 

Beautification and fencing of major parks in Kano – ₦801,262,065.29

 

Landscaping and interlocking of major roads and medians – ₦369,095,355.70

 

Construction of 30 solar-powered boreholes – ₦426,316,975.15

 

Drainage cover at Giginyu and Badawa – ₦204,082,938.10

 

WATER RESOURCES

 

Approval for the rehabilitation of Challawa Water Intake Station, Water Treatment Plants and Goron Dutse Reservoirs at the cost of N11,398,728,644.76

 

Rehabilitation of Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant – ₦9,940,577,528.00

 

Diesel supply settlement – ₦566,800,000.00

 

Payment of electricity bills to (KEDCO) – ₦227,282,142.46

 

PEWASH emergency boreholes – ₦398,257,991.20

 

LAND AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT

 

Establishment of Gaya Polytechnic (land compensation) – ₦6,586,372,844.00

 

Compensation at Dangwauro Layout – ₦487,238,345.00

 

Urban renewal (road markings and safety infrastructure) – ₦4,692,203,781.00

 

Street naming and mapping (Phase II) ₦3,417,848,937.44

 

House numbering project (Phase II) – ₦7,352,045,937.50

 

Compensation for Rano–Saji Road – ₦219,102,785.00

 

INFORMATION AND INTERNAL AFFAIRS SECTOR

 

Procurement of motorcycles and iPhones for Information Officers – ₦124,740,000.00

 

Take-off of rehabilitation project, phase 111 of Safe Corridor Programme for the rehabilitation of 1,000 repentant youth (Kano Model) – ₦626,000,000.00

 

TRANSPORTATION

 

Construction of Ministry of Transportation office with solar installation – ₦357,762,192.14

 

PLANNING AND BUDGET

 

Special Intervention Projects across 15 LGAs – ₦3,000,000,000.00

 

OFFICE OF THE HEAD OF SERVICE

 

Settlement of salary increase and allowances for Aliko Dangote University staff – ₦2,039,771,884.00

 

SECRETARY TO THE STATE GOVERNMENT

(SSG)

 

Consultancy for audit of loan vendors – ₦250,000,000.00

 

The council has also approved for Butchers’ empowerment programme – ₦143,687,500.00

 

RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS

 

Maintenance of operational vehicles and rent for Hajj operations in Saudi Arabia – ₦192,021,960

 

The approvals reflect the unwavering commitment of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, to improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and overall socio-economic development of the State.

 

The Council also noted with appreciation the numerous awards received by His Excellency in recognition of his visionary leadership and impactful governance, especially a gift of 30,000 naira by a classroom teacher, to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to support in his commitment towards improving the education sector in the State

 

We assure the good people of Kano State that all approved projects will be diligently executed in line with due process and accountability.
