Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has called on serving councillors across the state to intensify grassroots mobilisation and work towards ensuring the electoral victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Commissioner made the call when he received the Kano State Councillors Forum for Tinubu/Abba Grassroots Movement, led by its Chairman, Councillor Kabiru Maraska Kantudu, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Comrade Waiya commended the councillors for their commitment and determination to support the political aspirations of President Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing their closeness to the grassroots as a major advantage in mobilising support for the party and its candidates.
He urged them to embrace and promote the “Kano First” agenda of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, saying the initiative is focused on advancing the interests of Kano State and attracting more development support from the Federal Government.
He noted that the agenda also complements the numerous infrastructure projects, employment opportunities and other programmes being implemented by the state government to improve the living conditions of the people.
The Commissioner described politics as a collective endeavour in which individuals contribute in different ways, including financial support, skills, mobilisation, publicity of government programmes and achievements, as well as active participation in the democratic process, all towards achieving electoral success.
He stressed that serving councillors, given their proximity to the people at the grassroots, have an important role to play in developing effective strategies for electoral mobilisation and strengthening the party’s support base across the state.
Waiya therefore encouraged the councillors to remain committed, confident and open in expressing their support for the political aspirations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other APC candidates.
The Commissioner further pledged the cooperation of the Ministry with the councillors’ forum, particularly in supporting initiatives aimed at effectively communicating government policies, programmes and achievements to the people.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Kano State Councillors Forum for Tinubu/Abba Grassroots Movement and Councillor representing Kantudu Ward in Dala Local Government Area, Hon. Kabiru Maraska Dala, said the delegation visited the Commissioner to formally register their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and to work towards their re-election.
He said the forum was satisfied with the development projects being implemented by the Abba Kabir Yusuf administration across the 484 wards of the state, which, he said, they would continue to project and publicise to the people.
Maraska appealed to the Commissioner to provide the forum with the necessary support and guidance, particularly in information dissemination and grassroots mobilisation, to enable them to contribute effectively towards the success of President Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other APC candidates.
