
The Kano State Government has declared Tuesday, 1st September 2026, corresponding to 19th Rabi’ul Awwal 1448 AH, a public holiday to commemorate the 7th day of Eid-ul-Maulud, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The declaration was made by the Kano State Government to enable the Muslim Ummah to observe the occasion and reflect on the life, teachings and exemplary character of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf called on Muslims across the state to deeply reflect on the teachings and noble example of the Holy Prophet, particularly his emphasis on peace, justice, humility, compassion and service to humanity.
The Governor noted that the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) remains a timeless guide for promoting peaceful coexistence, justice and compassion in both personal and communal life.
“The Prophet’s teachings are a beacon of mercy and righteousness that should be reflected in our everyday lives,” Governor Yusuf said.
He further urged the Muslim community to remain steadfast in adhering to the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah, especially in addressing contemporary moral and social challenges.
“In the face of current moral and social challenges, it is vital for Muslims to return to the essence of Islam by reflecting the moral character of the Prophet Muhammad. His life is a model of integrity, honesty and service to humanity,” he added.
Governor Yusuf also called on the Muslim Ummah to use the occasion to pray for continued peace, unity, stability and prosperity in Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
He wished Muslims across the state a peaceful and blessed Maulud celebration.
