
The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has been honoured with the prestigious Crisis Communicator Award at the 6th National Spokespersons Awards held in Abuja.
The award was presented to the commissioner at an event attended by government spokespersons, communication experts, media professionals and other stakeholders from across the country.
Waiya was recognised for his outstanding contributions to crisis communication and effective information management, particularly in communicating government policies and addressing issues affecting the people of Kano State.
The recognition underscores the importance of effective communication in strengthening understanding and trust between government and citizens, especially during periods of crisis, uncertainty and public concern.
Speaking after receiving the award, the commissioner expressed appreciation to the organisers for recognising his contributions to public communication and information management.
He dedicated the award to the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, as well as staff of the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs and the media community in the state.
Waiya reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening communication between the government and citizens, stressing that the timely dissemination of accurate information remains essential to good governance and public trust.
The award further places Kano State among those receiving national recognition for excellence in government communication, while Waiya’s achievement highlights his efforts in crisis communication and public information management.
