President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her historic election as the first elected female President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing her emergence as a landmark achievement for Nigeria’s legal profession and a victory for merit, excellence, and gender inclusion.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu said Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya’s distinguished legal career, marked by integrity, professionalism, and dedication to justice, earned her the confidence and support of lawyers across the country.
The President noted that her election reflects the increasing recognition of women’s vital contributions to nation-building and the administration of justice. He expressed confidence that her leadership would strengthen the legal profession by upholding the rule of law and championing reforms that improve access to justice for all Nigerians.
President Tinubu also urged the newly elected NBA President to work closely with key stakeholders in advancing judicial reforms, safeguarding the Constitution, and reinforcing the legal profession’s role in sustaining Nigeria’s democracy.
He further encouraged Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya to unite members of the association by reaching out to her fellow contestants and addressing concerns that emerged during the election process.
