Senator Bashir Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, has received renowned Nigerian poet and peace advocate, Maryam Bukar Hassan, popularly known as Alhanislam, during a courtesy visit to his office.
Senator Lado described Maryam as an exceptional Nigerian whose dedication to peacebuilding, youth engagement, and social impact has earned her global recognition.

He congratulated her on her historic appointment by the United Nations Secretary-General in 2025 as the first-ever UN Global Advocate for Peace and Security, describing the feat as a proud moment for Nigeria and an inspiration to young people across the country.
According to Senator Lado, their discussions focused on empowering young people, strengthening peacebuilding initiatives, and fostering stronger collaboration between public institutions and communities to promote sustainable development.
He noted that Nigerians who continue to distinguish themselves on the global stage through creativity, advocacy, and public service deserve recognition and support, adding that Maryam’s achievements reflect the country’s immense human potential.
