The Kano State Government has approved the establishment of multi-agency security hubs and the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at the newly constructed Dan’Agundi and Tal’udu flyovers to strengthen security across Kano metropolis.
The State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Marwan Ahmed Aminu, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Kano on Monday.
According to the commissioner, the initiative forms part of the state government’s commitment to integrating modern infrastructure development with enhanced public safety and security.
He explained that construction of the security hubs will commence immediately after the completion of the Dan’Agundi and Tal’udu flyover projects. The facilities are intended to protect the infrastructure and ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and other road users.
The security hubs will accommodate personnel from multiple security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), the Hisbah Board, local vigilante groups, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and other relevant security stakeholders.
Engr. Aminu further revealed that CCTV cameras will be installed at the Dan’Agundi Flyover to provide 24-hour surveillance of activities around the facility.
He noted that the surveillance system will enable security personnel to monitor movement, prevent criminal activities, respond swiftly to emergencies, and enhance the protection of lives and property for residents of Kano and all road users.
