…The Celebrated Kano North reconcilation and the frustration of political saboteurs.
By Shariff Aminu Ahlan
The political atmosphere in the volatile landscape of Kano State is currently experiencing a renewed sense of peace, championed by the powers that be. It is gratifying to witness the current Deputy Senate President and his arch-rival in Kano North, T. Gwarzo, displaying political maturity, mutual respect, and a deep sense of understanding, as all their grievances and personal acrimony have finally been resolved. The much-anticipated peace has now been achieved.
This was one of the most tense political battles in recent times, and the hope of every party member was to witness its peaceful resolution and final burial so that peace could reign and the party could remain united in its aspiration to secure massive votes for the President, His Excellency, Abba Kabir, and all candidates presented by the ruling party.
It was indeed commendable and worthy of celebration when the former Deputy Governor decided to do the needful by withdrawing from the race, thereby allowing the Deputy Senate President to pursue his ambition with complete peace of mind.
The much-anticipated primary election to determine the flag bearer was finally laid to rest for the good of the party, despite the fact that the Deputy Senate President possessed the backing and formidable political structure capable of securing victory in the contest.
However, in the interest of party unity and stability, the peaceful resolution of the saga became a glorious moment for all stakeholders. Those who had been pushing and encouraging the respected former Deputy Governor to proceed with the primary election were bitterly disappointed by T. Gwarzo’s decision. Consequently, they resorted to cheap blackmail in an attempt to create discord and unnecessary tension in order to continue benefiting from the heated political atmosphere. We shall return to that later.
Out of magnanimity and the desire for sustainable peace, the Deputy Senate President paid a visit to T. Gwarzo’s domain, where both leaders held extensive discussions aimed at permanently burying their differences and paving the way for maximum cooperation that would guarantee success for all APC candidates officially presented and genuinely elected through the party process.
Another commendable aspect was the manner in which the long-standing friction between the Deputy Senate President and the State Deputy Governor was intelligently and strategically resolved through dialogue, meetings, and mutual understanding. One cannot forget the role played by the Deputy Governor, who chaired the event affirming the Deputy Senate President as the Kano North candidate.
More praise and commendation must also go to His Excellency, Abba Kabir, who delegated the powerful Deputy Governor to spearhead the reconciliation process and ensure the final burial of the grudges between the two political figures. The speech delivered by the Deputy Governor during the event, where he passionately called on the people to vote for the Senator, was truly commendable.
This historic reconciliation among the heavyweight politicians of Kano North is indeed worthy of praise, as their cooperation will undoubtedly guarantee the massive votes anticipated from the zone for the President and the highly respected Deputy Senate President, who is globally regarded as one of the finest Senators ever produced in the current political dispensation due to his outstanding and unprecedented achievements.
The reconciliation has finally opened the door for a solid, peaceful, and productive political campaign for all aspiring candidates from the zone. Peace has now been embraced and celebrated by politicians, stakeholders, and political analysts alike.
Why then the sudden involvement of a lone voice whose comments are rightly being interpreted as the outbursts of a contracted political agent determined to disrupt and undermine the celebrated peace accord and create unnecessary friction?
How could such a lone voice shamelessly dismiss the peace process as a mere formality, falsely claiming that T. Gwarzo had discarded it? Even more shocking was his senseless assertion that the Deputy Senate President needed to cajole, plead with, and bow before Abba Bichi, the House of Representatives member representing Bichi Constituency, in order to secure Kano North votes. According to him, failure to do so would lead to political defeat.
Such remarks are nothing but a charade and reckless utterances from someone allegedly contracted to incite political unrest and ensure that the Deputy Senate President does not return to the Senate in the next election.
It is now obvious that the individual is merely hallucinating within the cocoon of self-delusion. He knows quite well that the accusations he is making are nothing but a mirage. The Deputy Senate President does not need to bow before any lower-ranking political office holder, yet this individual appears desperate to create friction and ignite another political battle between two illustrious sons of Kano State.
Ironically, such a plot would only undermine the existing unity among Kano North political heavyweights and negatively affect the massive votes anticipated for His Excellency from the zone. What an irony indeed!
The lone voice should understand that whatever alleged contract he secured to prevent the Senator from returning to the Senate will never see the light of day. His desperate desire to scatter and cripple the cooperative spirit and solidified unity among Kano North political giants is merely an illusion. The unity has come to stay.
As for the unprecedented achievements and people-oriented leadership style of the Deputy Senate President, there is hardly any need to dwell extensively on them, as they are visible for all to see and have already been documented for posterity.
The people of Kano North know and appreciate their hero, and no amount of useless contracts, reckless utterances, naked hatred, or shallow remarks from political detractors can change that reality.
