The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially announced his withdrawal from the forthcoming APC gubernatorial primaries in the state.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, Governor Fubara said the decision followed extensive consultations with family, friends, and political associates, stressing that the peace, unity, and stability of Rivers State must come above personal ambition.
According to the governor, leadership requires sacrifice, noting that his withdrawal should not be seen as an act of weakness or surrender but rather a deliberate move aimed at preserving harmony and ensuring the progress of the state.
Governor Fubara expressed appreciation to members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress for their support throughout the political process. He also thanked Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his encouragement and support.
While acknowledging the disappointment many of his supporters may feel, the governor urged party faithful to remain united and committed to the collective vision of building a stronger APC and a peaceful Rivers State.
He reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving the people of Rivers State diligently until the completion of his tenure.
The development has since generated reactions across the political landscape, with many observers describing the move as a major turning point ahead of the Rivers State governorship race.
