Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has condoled with Nigeria’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Ibrahim Saleh, and the entire family over the death of his first wife, Assiyidah Zahra’a.
The governor expressed his condolences in a statement issued by his spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
Assiyidah Zahra’a died on Saturday at Nizamyyeh Hospital in Abuja after a period of illness. She is survived by five children, including former Nigerian Ambassador to Morocco, Alhaji Bashir Ibrahim Saleh.
Governor Yusuf described the deceased’s death as a painful loss to the family and the Muslim Ummah, expressing shock and sadness over the development.
The Governor also extended his condolences to the Borno State Government and the people of the state over the loss.
He prayed to Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant her Aljannatul Firdaus, and give Sheikh Ibrahim Saleh, the children and the entire family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
