The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting professionalism and strengthening the media and advertising sector through strategic policies and institutional support.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this known while representing the Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, at the Dinner and Award Night organized by the Advertising Practitioners Association Kano on Thursday.
Speaking during the event, Waiya said the administration of Governor Yusuf remains committed to initiatives aimed at enhancing professionalism and creating opportunities for practitioners in the communication and advertising industry.
He explained that, as part of efforts to improve standards and regulate activities within the sector, the Kano State Government established the Kano State Advertising and Signage Agency to strengthen professionalism and support the growth of the industry.
The commissioner further disclosed that the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs had supported many media and information workers across the state to register with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), enabling them to become certified professional advertisers with recognized licenses to practice.
According to him, the initiative demonstrates the government’s determination to empower practitioners and encourage ethical standards in the profession.
In a practical demonstration of support for professional associations, Waiya announced a donation of ₦10 million on behalf of Governor Yusuf to support the activities and development of the organization.
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Governor Yusuf in recognition of his outstanding leadership qualities, support for professionalism, and contributions toward inclusive sectoral development.
Receiving the award on behalf of the governor, Waiya described the recognition as a reflection of the administration’s dedication to good governance, institutional growth, and human capital development.
The event attracted stakeholders from the advertising, media, and communication sectors and featured discussions and engagements centered on professionalism, collaboration, and national development.
