In the journey of state building, the alignment between leadership vision and administrative execution is the ultimate catalyst for change. As we celebrate Workers’ Day today, it is essential to reflect on the synergy that has propelled Kano State into a new era of growth. At the center of this transformation is a profound Partnership for Prosperity led by His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and strategically supported by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comdr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration has consistently demonstrated that governance is a sacred trust. His Sabuwar Kano (New Kano) blueprint is a bold declaration of intent, focusing on urban renewal, fiscal discipline, and human capital development. Whether it is through the 30% benchmark for education funding or the massive overhaul of metropolitan infrastructure, the Governor’s vision seeks to create an environment where every worker, entrepreneur, and student has the tools to succeed.
A vision, no matter how grand, requires a clear channel of communication to take root among the people. This is where the expertise of Comdr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya has been indispensable. By managing the state’s internal affairs and information flow with precision, the Commissioner has ensured that the administration’s policies are not just heard, but understood and embraced at the grassroots level.
Through this partnership, the government has moved beyond mere rhetoric, replacing polemics with data driven progress and fostering a sense of ownership among the populace.
On this May Day, we recognize that prosperity is impossible without a motivated workforce. The Yusuf, Waiya partnership has prioritized industrial harmony, ensuring that the rights of workers are respected and that the machinery of government remains efficient. By investing in the healthcare workforce through initiatives like Lafiya Dole and resolving industrial actions through dialogue, they have proven that this administration is a true ally of the common laborer.
As the State Coordinator of the Unifier Project, I have witnessed the impact of this collaborative leadership. It is a partnership that recognizes that the prosperity of the leaders is tied directly to the prosperity of the people.
Today, we congratulate His Excellency and the Honourable Commissioner for their tireless dedication. Their combined efforts are ensuring that Kano State does not just grow, but thrives as a model of modern governance in Nigeria.
Happy Workers’ Day to all who contribute to the prosperity of Kano!
