In a significant political development in Yobe State, Governor Mai Mala Buni and prominent political leader Ibrahim Geidam have reportedly endorsed Alhaji Baba Malum Wali as the preferred gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The endorsement is seen as a strategic move by the party’s leadership in the state to consolidate unity and strengthen its chances ahead of the 2027 general elections. Both Buni and Geidam, who remain influential figures within the APC, are believed to have reached a consensus on Wali following consultations with key stakeholders across the state.

Political observers note that the backing of the two leaders could significantly boost Wali’s emergence as the party’s flagbearer, given their strong grassroots networks and control of the party structure in Yobe.
