KANO – The Kano State House of Assembly has received a set of requests from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, including the confirmation of a new head for the state’s anti-corruption body and approval of a 2025 supplementary budget.
According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore — signed by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai — Governor Yusuf has nominated Saidu Yahaya for confirmation as Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
The governor described Yahaya as a candidate with proven competence, integrity, and extensive experience in the field, noting that his appointment would strengthen the commission’s efforts in combating graft and addressing public grievances.
In a separate request, Governor Yusuf sought the Assembly’s approval for the 2025 supplementary budget to enable the state government to implement key infrastructure projects, particularly in the Kano metropolitan area, as part of the ongoing urban renewal programme.
The supplementary budget proposal, valued at ₦169.52 billion, also covers the creation of new ministries, departments, and government agencies aimed at enhancing service delivery and accelerating development initiatives.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Jibril Falgore, referred the supplementary budget request to the House Committee on Appropriation for review and consideration.
