
ABUJA, September 8, 2026 — Information officers from the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State are currently participating in a professional training programme organised by the national association of information officers in Abuja.
The training, held at the conference hall of Green Mines Hotel, focuses on equipping information officers with modern skills in professional communication, effective information dissemination and responsible journalism in the digital age.
Speaking during the programme, Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Tsoho Aliyu, stressed the importance of professionalism, accuracy and credibility in public information management.
He urged information officers to shun fake news and ensure that information released to the public is properly verified and professionally presented.
Comrade Waiya also commended the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for sponsoring the participation of all Kano State local government information officers in the training.
He prayed for continued success for Governor Yusuf and for divine assistance in all his efforts towards the development of Kano State.
