
As Nigeria marks Democracy Day, The Unifier Project pays glowing tribute to the heroes and heroines whose courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment laid the foundation for the democratic freedoms Nigerians enjoy today.
In a Democracy Day message, the National Director General of The Unifier Project, Comrade Najeeb Nasir Ibrahim, described June 12 as a defining moment in Nigeria’s history and a powerful symbol of the people’s resilience, determination, and collective struggle for justice, freedom, and democratic governance.
He noted that the significance of June 12 transcends politics, representing the triumph of the people’s will over oppression and reaffirming the enduring values of democracy, accountability, and national unity.
According to him, Nigeria’s democratic journey has been shaped by the sacrifices of courageous men and women who stood firmly in defense of truth, justice, human rights, and the rule of law, often at great personal cost.
“June 12 remains a beacon of hope and a reminder that democracy is not merely a system of government but a collective responsibility that requires vigilance, participation, and commitment from both leaders and citizens,” he stated.
Comrade Najeeb emphasized that Democracy Day provides an opportunity for reflection on the nation’s democratic progress while honoring those whose struggles and sacrifices helped restore and sustain democratic governance in Nigeria.

He called on political leaders, public institutions, and citizens to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, and good governance, stressing that the true essence of democracy lies in serving the people and advancing national development.
