NDC INDIA DELEGATION VISITS 81 DIVISION, SEEKS INSIGHTS INTO ITS STRATEGIC SECURITY OPERATIONS

A delegation from the National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, India, on a Geo-Strategic Study Tour to Nigeria, visited Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday, 4 June 2026.

 

This was contained in a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya Acting Deputy’ director army public relations,81 division Nigerian army issued to newsmen.

 

Welcoming the delegation, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, described the visit as another testament to the enduring defence relations between Nigeria and India. He acknowledged India’s longstanding support to the Nigerian Armed Forces, particularly in military training, professional development and institutional capacity building, while expressing optimism for deeper collaboration in addressing contemporary security challenges.

 

Earlier, the Team Leader and Senior Directing Staff of the College, Mrs Anvita Sinha, thanked the Division for the warm reception accorded the delegation. She noted that the visit was aimed at providing participants with a better understanding of the structure, roles and operational responsibilities of 81 Division, particularly its mandate of protecting critical national assets, maintaining security within Lagos and Ogun States, and supporting internal security operations.

 

Mrs Sinha further underscored the strong and longstanding relationship between Nigeria and India, noting that defence cooperation remains a key component of the partnership between both nations.

 

As part of the programme, participants engaged in an interactive session and received a comprehensive briefing on the organisation and operational activities of 81 Division. The 14-member delegation comprises senior military and civil service officers, including participants from Egypt, Morocco, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan.

 

The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and group photographs
