The Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has reportedly endorsed former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, as the preferred governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections in Kano State.
According to reliable sources within the Kwankwasiyya political structure, the decision followed extensive consultations among party stakeholders, political allies, and influential figures across Kano State.
The sources disclosed that Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo secured the confidence of the movement’s leadership due to his long-standing loyalty, commitment, and active role in sustaining the Kwankwasiyya ideology over the years.
In another significant political development, former Deputy Governor of Kano State and the 2023 APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, was said to have accepted the party’s senatorial ticket for Kano Central Senatorial District under the NDC platform.
Political observers believe the arrangement forms part of broader strategic efforts by the Kwankwasiyya Movement to strengthen its political influence and consolidate support ahead of the 2027 elections.
The reported alignment is also seen as an attempt to unify emerging political interests within the movement as preparations for the next electoral cycle continue to gather momentum.
Although the NDC leadership is yet to officially confirm the development, reactions have continued to trail the reported endorsements across political circles in Kano State.
Analysts say the development could significantly reshape the political landscape in Kano, especially considering the influence of both Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo and Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna within the state’s political space.
As political activities gradually intensify ahead of 2027, stakeholders and supporters are closely monitoring further announcements from the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the NDC leadership.
