
Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the public presentation of the autobiography of former Nigerian Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, titled “My Life of Duty and Allegiance.”
The event, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, attracted prominent Nigerians from across the political, religious, and traditional sectors.
Among dignitaries present were former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar; former President Goodluck Jonathan; representative of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; former First Lady, Patience Jonathan; Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III; and CAN President, Daniel Okoh, among many others.
Delivering President Tinubu’s message, Vice President Shettima described Gowon’s autobiography as an important national document that offers lessons on leadership, national unity, and regional cooperation.
He emphasized that reflections from leaders who witnessed defining moments in Nigeria’s history remain vital to strengthening democratic stability and promoting national cohesion.
The Vice President also called for the wide circulation of the memoir across the country, describing it as a civic inheritance that should be preserved for future generations of Nigerians.
