The Kano State Government has commended the Senator representing Kano South, Sulaiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, for his significant contributions to education and youth development across the state.
The commendation was conveyed in a statement delivered on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf by the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, during a special event held in Wudil.
At the event, no fewer than 1,000 students were awarded full scholarships by the Senator to study at various universities across the country. The initiative has been widely described as a landmark intervention, particularly benefiting students from underprivileged backgrounds across Kano South.
The state government noted that such initiatives are critical to shaping the future, emphasizing that young people remain the bedrock of tomorrow’s leadership. It further praised the Senator’s foresight and urged other public office holders to emulate similar investments in education as a pathway to sustainable development.
In his remarks, Senator Kawu Sumaila reiterated his commitment to expanding access to education, stressing that no young person should be denied learning opportunities due to financial constraints. He described education as a vital driver of societal progress and improved living standards.
The Senator added that his interventions extend beyond education, highlighting ongoing efforts in humanitarian support and community development across the senatorial district. He explained that the scholarship scheme forms part of a broader agenda to deliver meaningful and inclusive development in Kano South.
In his closing remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Professor Tukur Musa Yakasai, commended the Senator’s initiative, describing it as both inspiring and a call to action for other leaders. He also expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government for its sustained support to the institution and its commitment to advancing education in the state.
