The Northern Youth Assembly (NYA) has congratulated the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, on their national honours received at the Women in Security Summit (WINSEC) organised by the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Abuja.
In a statement signed by the National Secretary of the Assembly, Dr. Abdulhafiz Garba, the organisation described Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Distinguished Leadership for Peace, Security and Good Governance Award as a well-deserved recognition of his unwavering commitment to promoting peace, strengthening security, advancing inclusive governance, and implementing people-oriented policies that continue to improve the lives of the people of Kano State.
According to the statement, the Governor’s administration has demonstrated that purposeful leadership, transparency, accountability, and dedication to public service remain the foundation for sustainable development. It added that the national recognition reflects the confidence Nigerians continue to place in Governor Yusuf’s vision of building a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Kano State.
The Assembly noted that the award would further encourage the Governor to sustain the reforms and developmental initiatives that have earned his administration widespread admiration across the country.
The NYA also congratulated the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, on receiving the Strategic Communication Award at the same event.
It described the honour as a fitting recognition of Waiya’s professionalism, dedication, and exceptional contributions to public communication and information management. The Assembly noted that through his strategic engagement with the media and the public, the Commissioner has continued to strengthen government-citizen relations, promote transparency, and effectively project the achievements of the Kano State Government with credibility and integrity.
The statement further stated that Waiya’s innovative communication strategies have enhanced public confidence in government activities while setting a commendable standard for strategic public information management in Nigeria.
The Northern Youth Assembly also commended the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) for recognising excellence in leadership, governance, peacebuilding, and strategic communication, describing the initiative as an important motivation for public office holders to remain committed to accountability, quality service delivery, and national development.
Reaffirming its commitment to promoting good governance, youth development, and national unity, the Assembly celebrated the achievements of the two Kano leaders and prayed for greater wisdom, strength, and divine guidance for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya as they continue to serve the people of Kano State and Nigeria with distinction.
The statement concluded by once again congratulating both award recipients and wishing them continued success in their respective responsibilities.
