A former Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, Nasir Ja’oji, has formally declared his intention to contest the Tarauni Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was contained in a statement issued by his media aide, Abba Anwar, and made available to journalists on Sunday.
According to the statement, Ja’oji announced his ambition on Friday while addressing supporters in Kano, following his recent resignation from his presidential appointment amid growing calls from political associates and constituents urging him to join the race.
He described his decision as one driven by responsibility rather than personal ambition.
“This ambition is not borne out of mere ambition, but from a deep sense of responsibility, commitment and consistent engagement with the people and the ideals of my great party, the All Progressives Congress,” he said.
Ja’oji noted that he has remained loyal to the APC and contributed to its growth, unity, and electoral successes over the years at different levels.
He added that his experience in the presidency helped shape his understanding of governance, nation-building, and inclusive leadership.
“In that capacity, I came up with initiatives aimed at promoting civic responsibility, youth engagement, and leadership development across the country,” he stated.
The statement further highlighted his involvement in youth empowerment and the promotion of women’s participation in politics, noting that he intends to expand such initiatives if elected.
Ja’oji also pledged to deliver greater democratic dividends to the people of Tarauni Federal Constituency, emphasizing grassroots engagement and inclusive representation as key pillars of his campaign.
