Amid renewed fears of xenophobic unrest in South Africa, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has issued a strong advisory urging Nigerian business owners to temporarily shut down their operations for safety reasons.

The warning follows reports of rising anti-foreigner protests in parts of the country, where foreign-owned businesses are often the primary targets during such crises.

NiDCOM emphasized that the directive is a precautionary measure aimed at protecting lives and preventing avoidable financial losses. Nigerians have been advised to scale down activities, remain vigilant, and prioritize their personal safety as authorities continue to monitor the evolving situation.

The commission reassured citizens that it is closely engaging with relevant stakeholders while keeping track of developments on the ground.

This latest alert has left many Nigerian entrepreneurs in South Africa facing difficult choices, as uncertainty grows over the security environment and the potential impact on their livelihoods.

Brown Pigeon News reports that concerns over xenophobic violence have resurfaced in recent times, sparking calls for proactive measures to safeguard foreign nationals.

Further updates are expected as the situation unfolds.
