Kano State Government has announced the commencement of the second term holiday for the 2025/2026 academic session across all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry, Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, said day schools are to proceed on holiday effective Friday, 17 April 2026, while boarding schools will close on Saturday, 18 April 2026.
The ministry explained that the break is intended to provide students and staff with sufficient time to rest and prepare for the third term.
According to the approved academic calendar, boarding school students are expected to resume on Sunday, May 3, 2026, while day school pupils will return on Monday, May 4, 2026, to continue academic activities.
The Commissioner for Education, Gwani Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, urged parents and guardians to ensure that their children return promptly on the scheduled resumption dates to avoid disruptions to their academic progress. He also called on school administrators to strictly adhere to the official school calendar.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to education, the commissioner stated that efforts are ongoing to maintain high standards and provide a conducive learning environment for all students in the state.
