Confirms that the Yobe State Government began relocating 250 households from Garin Kolo in Nangere LGA after floods washed away homes and compromised water sources. The relocation was ordered by Governor Mai Mala Buni to ensure “safety, dignity and hope for recovery.”
Reports that 22 temporary shelters have been established, with more underway, a water reservoir and five emergency toilets installed, and an ambulance stationed for medical care. Security is being provided by NSCDC and police, and affected individuals are being referred to General Hospital Nangere as needed.
Each household is receiving food baskets, and further support is promised. The state’s efforts are supported by the Emir of Tikau, local authorities, the Ministry of Health, RUWASA, and humanitarian partners.
