Living, Trading Under High-Tension Power Lines Highly Dangerous, TCN Warns Residents In Kaduna

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has issued a stern warning to residents living or trading under high-tension power lines in Kaduna State.

TCN urges residents to vacate immediately to avoid fatal accidents and prevent further disruption to the national power supply.
The call was made during a high-level sensitisation forum organised by the TCN in Kaduna.
The meeting was held to discuss the growing threats of vandalism and illegal construction on transmission corridors with community members.

TCN’s General Manager for the Kaduna Region, Engineer Nasir Mansur-Fada said, “We are appealing to the public to stay away from high-voltage lines. These structures are not just dangerous they’re critical to our nation’s electricity”.
He revealed that despite ongoing efforts to expand and upgrade transmission infrastructure, rampant vandalism and illegal encroachments are sabotaging progress.

Technical experts at the event, including Mr. Simon Innocent, Manager System Lines, and Mr. Yakubu Abdulrazaq, Assistant Manager Electrical, outlined the dangers such encroachments pose—from obstructing maintenance work to causing electrocution and fires.

The TCN urged continued cooperation from communities and security agencies to protect the nation’s power infrastructure from further damage and to ensure a reliable electricity supply across the country.
