Northeast Development Commission NEDC has supported Borno State government in boosting agriculture, security and economic activities on the shores of the Lake Chad region in Borno State.
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum stated this when the Minister of Regional Development, Engr Abubakar Momoh, paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Maiduguri.
Zulum, represented by his deputy, Umar Usman Kadafur, said the commission had played the role of providing heavy duty machines to clear the waterways and restore economic activities in the areas.

Zulum revealed that the commission has always been supportive to the state in covering the developmental and infrastructural deficit cause by the boko haram crisis.
“Borno as the epicenter of Boko Haram insurgency, the NEDC has made a lot of provisions in terms of infrastructure to support the effort of Borno State government in our recovery and development process.
“I want to use this opportunity to express our appreciation for the commission’s intervention, we have been always knocking on their doors and they respond quickly to the need of the people of Borno State,” he said.
Zulum also commended the NEDC for providing food and starter pack support to thousands of surrendered Boko Haram insurgents, who were camped and trained on various skills to be useful to themselves and the society.
