The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has honoured Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director General of Media and Publicity to the Kano State Governor, alongside ten other individuals for their contributions to community development in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.
The recognition was conferred during the Emir’s two-day rangadi (royal tour) of the area, which included meetings with local leaders, youth groups, and residents to discuss social issues and strengthen ties with the community.
Others honoured include Alhaji Ibrahim Danyaro, Alhaji Kamal Abubakar, Barrister Saleh Shehu Kuidawa, Sheikh Hafiz Ibrahim Nyass, Sheikh Salisu Zakariyya, Alhaji Danliti YY Dawanau, Hon. Hamza Ibrahim Baba, Ismail Sani Mukhtar, CSP Isa Bello Audi, and Sheikh Zangina Chedi.
Addressing the community, the Emir raised concerns over rising incidents of drug abuse, phone snatching, and land grabbing, warning that these trends threaten peace and stability.
“Drugs and crime do not only destroy individual futures—they destroy families and the very fabric of our communities,” he said, urging young people to embrace education and hard work.
He also called on parents to take greater responsibility in raising morally grounded children, stressing that societal reform must begin at the family level.
Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government, Hon. Anas Mukhtar Bello, said the awards were based on merit, recognising the recipients’ commitment to social progress and community wellbeing.
The visit featured cultural displays and traditional ceremonies, highlighting the Emir’s ongoing engagement with communities across the emirate and his advocacy for moral discipline and inclusive development.
The Emir reaffirmed the importance of service, integrity, and positive leadership in shaping the future of Kano Emirate, as he recognised Sanusi Bature and the ten others.
