President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to appoint Nyesom Wike as Minister of the FCT, was a “critical political error” and the president’s greatest mistake, according to Senator Ireti Kingibe, who is representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the National Assembly.
The senator has vehemently criticized the President’s decision in an interview with ARISE Television, expressing her disappointment with Wike’s leadership style.
She described Wike’s leadership style as autocratic that has little regard for the rule of law.
The senator alleged that Wike’s actions have created a climate of disregard for institutions and legal frameworks guiding the territory.
Senator’s Accusations Against Wike
– Running the FCT in an autocratic manner, ignoring due process and sidelining the rule of law
– Reinstating scrapped agencies without legal backing
– Making unilateral decisions harmful to FCT residents
Kingibe believes that Wike’s appointment has undermined President Tinubu’s administration and deepened dissatisfaction among FCT residents. She stated, “If I were to list everything President Tinubu has done wrong, the greatest wrong he’s done to himself… has been on Minister Wike”
The senator’s criticism highlights growing concerns about Wike’s leadership and its potential impact on the FCT’s governance and development. As the debate surrounding Wike’s appointment continues, it’s clear that Kingibe’s sentiments reflect a broader discontent among some stakeholders
