Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has called on his teammates to give their all best in securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Speaking to RFI, and monitoring by the Independent Mirror, Musa described the Super Eagles’ camp as having a good atmosphere, with the players focused on overcoming the challenges ahead.
It will be recalled that in 2022, the three-time African champions, Nigeria, failed to qualify for the World Cup after losing to Ghana in a two-legged play-off.
At present, the Eagles are on the verge of missing out again, as they currently sit fourth in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers, six points behind leaders in South Africa.
With just four games left, Musa admitted that only a miracle could see Nigeria through: “I assure you that if the Super Eagles fail to qualify for the World Cup, Nigerians will not forgive us.”
The crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Rwanda will be played on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, with a kickoff scheduled for 5:00 PM.
Only the group winners will qualify automatically for the tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
With four matches remaining, Nigeria must win all to stand a realistic chance of securing a direct spot at the World Cup.
