Kano, Sept. 1, 2025 – More than 9,680 volunteers will be deployed across Kano State to boost participation in the ongoing online pre-voter registration exercise.
The initiative, agreed at a meeting between the state’s voter registration mobilization taskforce and chairmen of the 44 local government areas, is aimed at improving turnout after previous data showed low participation in Kano despite its population size.
Under the plan, at least 20 volunteers equipped with Android phones will be stationed in each of the state’s 484 wards, with the number varying depending on the size of polling units. The volunteers, drawn from local communities and including women, will be trained on the online registration process and expected to pass on the knowledge to others at polling unit level.
