The Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, has inaugurated a special committee to investigate the train accident that occurred on the Abuja–Kaduna railway line on Tuesday.
In a statement signed on Wednesday by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Janet McDickson Noah, the minister said the panel would examine both the immediate and remote causes of the incident.
According to the statement, the committee’s mandate includes making recommendations on safety measures, preventive strategies, and policies to strengthen security and improve the overall efficiency of Nigeria’s railway operations.
The ministry added that the committee has been directed to submit its report urgently, not only to address the accident but also to help restore public confidence in the nation’s railway system.
